Look what's shiny and new!

“Four-Way Split” blurb:
Logan and Zara have been married twenty years. Their sex life is boring. Dead boring. They love each other but they want more excitement in bed. The answer? Ask another couple to join them for a very dirty, smutty weekend of darkly naughty sex.
Wicked fantasies and forbidden desires are shared. Girl on girl action? Double penetration? Every dark craving comes vividly to life for an orgasmic weekend.

Story Excerpt

The evening went smoothly, with Archer and Belle as much fun to talk to, and as good company as Zara had remembered from the previous time she’d met them. They all laughed a lot, and had similar points of view on many things, yet were sufficiently different to have a deep enough conversation to make her think. All in all, she was very pleased.
When she brought in the coffee, Logan raised an eyebrow at her in that yummy, questioning way he had. She knew what he was asking and she nodded. One thing about living with a man for a long time, you could mostly work out their body language. And his body was still mighty fine for a man who’d turned forty last birthday.
She poured the rich, aromatic brew, then passed around creamer and sugar.
With no finesse, no warm-up, no gentle build-up or sounding-out of his friends, Logan shocked Zara by blurting straight out, “So, Zara and I are interested in trying out a foursome, everyone doing everyone. Are you interested in joining us?”
Zara felt her face flame beet-red, heat flaring from her toes to her head. Oh, God talk about no warning! With her gaze lowered to the table, she peeked sideways from the corners of her eyes. Belle’s faced was flushed. Logan and Archer both had goofy grins on their faces. At least they hadn’t run screaming from the house. That was a start, she supposed.
She watched closely as Belle and Archer seemed to be talking without words, just the way she and Logan did. She’d never thought about it before, but it made sense, she supposed, that other long-term couples had developed a sense for the partner’s feelings just as she and Logan had.
Archer cleared his throat. “We’re in,” he said simply.
Zara felt a huge ball of tension roll off her shoulders and back. She straightened up, looked at them both and smiled.

Playing along with the Liebster Award game

Thank you, Rose Anderson, who tagged me.

11 fun facts about Berengaria Brown:

1. I was named for Richard the Lionheart’s wife, Berengaria of Navarre. She was a woman well ahead of her time (1165-1230) who cared about women. Women had no legal rights at that time. They were the property of their father, then of their husband.

2. I love chocolate.

3. My father taught me to read before I went to Kindergarten. My mom was ill and he didn’t know what to do with me.

3. I have always read anything and everything. Books, magazines, the back of the cereal box, signs in store windows…

4. I write a lot of ménage stories, but I also write MM, FF, and MF. That’s because I read anything so I tend to write pretty much anything, too.

5. James Bond is my hero. Any of them. All of them. (Did I say I write ménage?☺)

6. I’m grateful to a couple experienced romance authors who helped me a lot when I first began writing.

7. I love Eleanor Roosevelt quotes. She said some mighty clever things.

8. I travel a lot with my day job. Those places sometimes find their way into my stories.

9. I much prefer hot weather to cold, summer to winter.

10. Most of my books are set in warm weather, although there is one series (“Elinor’s Stronghold”) where winter is the crux of the story.

11. I write for a variety of publishers because I write so many different genres. I’ve also started self-publishing a few books.

Answering Rose Anderson's questions about me:

1. As a person who understands how to use words, what's a perfect word?
A perfect word is one that makes you smile when you use it or makes you sigh with satisfaction when you read it. It’s just exactly right for where it’s being used.

2. Do you have a favorite quote?
A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water.
Eleanor Roosevelt

3. A favorite holiday?
Any day off work is good!

4. If could have a super power for a day, what would it be and why?
To fly. I’ve written a couple books with a heroine who could fly, because it’s something I’d like to do.

5. Is there one candy bar that you'd choose above all others?
Just chocolate.

6. What's your favorite flower?
A rose.

7. What's hotter for the hero: long-hair, short, or bald? Explain your choice.
Long hair so I can run my fingers through it.

8. Money, education and fears aside, other than writing, what three careers would you have?
I want to be the mistress of a 99-year-old billionaire. Times three.

9. If you could choose an animal for a mascot, what animal would it be?
A green dragon.

10. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
I was very happy as a reader until the day I ran out of books to read. That’s when I decided to become a writer.

11. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher. I grew out of that plan!

Free read of prelude to Werewolf story, "Dogged Pursuit"

Sometimes when an author writes a book, there are sections of the story that end up on the cutting room floor. They are back-story, or too much information, or slow the pace of the story. But also sometimes they are very interesting snippets about one or more of the characters.

In "Dogged Pursuit", one of my werewolf books, the elderly couple is absolutely convinced Dwyer is their long departed black dog, Shaggy. Why would they think that? I can't tell you what happens to them, that would spoil the story. But to write the book I needed to know the connection. It never ended up in the actual story, but they loved Shaggy and this is why...

Shaggy’s Story

It was a bitterly cold winter’s night and Cora Ainsley was rocking newborn Sally to sleep by the fire when Fred heard a noise at the door.
He hurried over and switched on the porch light but couldn’t see anything.
“Who is it, dear?” asked Cora.
“No one there. Must be the wind.”
But he heard it again. A soft whining. He opened the door and looked out. No one. And not really much wind either, although it was damn cold out there.
Something damp touched his slippered foot. Fred looked down and saw a tiny bedraggled ball of black fluff standing on four very wobbly little legs.
“Oh my goodness! Who are you and where did you come from?” he asked picking the tiny puppy up and quickly shutting the door behind them both.
Fred hurried back to the fire and gently put the pup on the rug in front of it while he went to get a towel to dry it off. “Although a handkerchief would likely be big enough to do the job,” he laughed to Cora.
Dark liquid eyes shone lovingly at the man as he rubbed the tiny fur ball dry, and a rough red tongue licked his hand in gratitude.
“Likely someone will come looking for him tomorrow,” warned Cora as the pup snuggled to sleep on Fred’s lap.
But no one came looking for him, and when the Ainsleys asked around the neighborhood, no one reported a lost pup either, so he stayed.
His coat remained a solid black color but shaggy as if it needed a trim, so Shaggy became his name. And he and baby Sally were inseparable, although he grew much faster than she did.
“I swear that dog is smarter than the average person,” Cora and Fred would say to each other at least once a week.
About eighteen months later, Shaggy and the toddler Sally were playing in the backyard as Cora was hanging out the laundry.
Suddenly there was frenzied barking, and sounds of splashing. Cora dropped the clothes in her arms and turned and began to run to the lake. But Shaggy was there long before her, the baby’s diaper gripped between his teeth as he dragged Sally from the water.
By the time Cora arrived, red-faced and puffing with exertion and panic, both dog and baby were sitting happily on the ground, huge grins on their faces.
“I swim. I swim” laughed Sally. Shaggy’s big red tongue lolled out of the side of his mouth as he grinned at Cora.
“Shaggy, Shaggy, how can I ever thank you? The baby would have drowned before I’d gotten there. If it wasn’t for you…” her breath hitched.
Shaggy just grinned, his dark liquid eyes showing he would always be there for the family he’d chosen as his.
