The Official Liz Crowe GOOD FAITH Cover Reveal Blog Hop and Contest
How I met Liz Crowe
So this chick on the Romance Books 4 Us yahoo loop I’m on, Liz Crowe, said she was opening her blog to guest authors and would interview them over her beer bar. It turns out she’s some kind of craft beer guru. A beer bar, huh? I decided being interviewed over a beer bar couldn’t be too bad so I signed up. As an author, I’m always keen to be interviewed about my books, and a nice craft beer to wash it down with had to be a bonus, right?
Then it occurred to me I really knew nothing about this other author and likely I should read one of her books. Because I travel a lot for my day job, and haven’t been to Turkey yet, I got, “Diplomat’s Daughter”. I liked that and read “Cheeky Blonde” next. Then I was sucked into the Stewart Realty series. So now I’m ready for “Good Faith”. I have a business trip coming up late November with a couple long flights. It seems to me that “Good Faith" will be perfect to take on the airplane with me. Nothing is worse than being two hours out from my destination with nothing to read because I’ve finished the book I bought along with me, and my laptop battery is dead. The length of “Good Faith” should solve that little problem nicely, and I know Liz’s characters will draw me into the story even if I want to slap them upside the head at times.
"Good Faith" Back cover blurb:
Strong personalities—volatile marriages—stressful careers—conflicting goals—difficult children.
Contemporary challenges facing close-knit families form the crucible that forges a new generation.
Brandis, Gabriel, Blair and Lillian emerge from the entanglement of their parents’ longstanding emotional connections, but one’s star will burn brighter – and hotter – than the others.
With a personality that consumes everyone and everything in its path, Brandis Gordon struggles to maintain control as he ricochets between wild success and miserable failure. His life proves how even the strongest relationships can be strangled by the ties that bind.
Brandis and Gabe Frietag are as close as any brothers, bound by both loyalty and fierce rivalry. The strength of their ultimate alliance is tested time and again by Brandis’ choices.
Companions from birth, Blair Frietag and Lillian Robinson share loner tendencies, but come to rely on each other through adolescence. As they mature, both are forced to confront their feelings for the men they knew as boys.
Somewhere between the tangle of good memories and bad, independence and addiction, optimism and despair, the intertwined destinies of the new generation finally collide, leaving some stronger, others broken, but none unscathed.
As a chronicle of three families navigating the minefields of teen years into the turbulence of young adulthood, "Good Faith" holds up a literary mirror to contemporary life with joys and temptations unflinchingly reflected. Its fresh, real-life voice portrays the sheer volatility of human nature, complete with the hopes, dreams, and unexpected setbacks of marriage, parenthood and “coming of age.”

That morning his father had roused him from a sound sleep. He’d blinked, confused, by the angle of the sunlight. He rarely slept much past eight since he usually had some sort of training or the other.
“Let’s go son. Time for lunch.”
Brandis had dragged himself up, his limbs feeling like they weighed a thousand pounds each. His brain buzzed with a strange sort of energy, his typical state, and not at all welcome considering it normally didn’t hit him until later in the day. The conversation his father began as soon as they were seated at their usual diner did not help.
“So, listen, Brandis. These girls…Katie’s friends from college….”
Brandis sipped his ice water, waiting for his father to finish the thought. His heart pounded, and his face flushed hot with embarrassment.
Jack sighed, as if exasperated that Brandis didn’t pick up the thread on his own, leaving him to carry on with the awkwardness about to ensue. Then he leveled his gaze, his face open, not angry or judgmental. “I think that you may be in for some…I mean, they’re…shit.”
“If you are gonna tell me where babies come from again,” Brandis said, after deciding to ease his father’s obvious distress. He cocked an eyebrow and half a smile. Jack seemed to relax somewhat as Brandis continued. “Don’t bother. I already know.”
He flashed his brightest smile up at the middle-aged woman who stood at their table, coffee pot in hand. She blinked rapidly at him, and at that precise moment, Brandis got his first flash of…something…about his power. Up until now he’d merely been “Brandis the trouble maker, the causer of strife.” Suddenly, he felt strong, amazingly so, stronger than even the man sitting across from him, a taller, older version of himself. His body tingled all over, as he tested the smile out again on the woman, making her slop some coffee out onto the table. His father frowned, but then chuckled as the woman walked away after they gave their orders.
“Son,” he said, leaning back and cradling the coffee mug to his chest. “Your adventure has only just begun.”
“Huh?” Brandis picked up his cup but didn’t drink any. He hated coffee, but had ordered it in a burst of need to be more like Jack. As he sipped the bitter stuff, he was transported back years before when he and his dad would spend every single Saturday morning together, eating breakfast at this very diner. He had adored the man, he remembered distinctly. His chest hurt at the simplicity of their relationship then. He looked away from Jack’s deep blue, knowing gaze.
The subject changed of its own accord, and Brandis let it. Although part of him wanted to ask for advice, a much bigger part would not allow the words past his lips.
They ate, discussing the upcoming football season and Brandis’ part in it. The recruiting company Jack had contracted last year to video his every move would start up with the first game. He’d made varsity again, technically as backup quarterback to a senior boy. Brandis didn’t see this as a setback and had every intention of starting under center by the second or third game.
Finally, when they pushed their empty plates back and sat looking at each other, Brandis felt more comfortable in his father’s presence than he had been in a long time. Jack said, “I am pretty sure at least one of those girls sleeping in the basement is determined to change the status of your virginity for you probably as soon as tonight.”
Brandis choked on the last sip of lukewarm coffee. His face burned, and his body tingled again. “I’m…it’s…uh….” He clutched the napkin in his lap unable to meet his father’s eyes.
“No need to say anything. Let’s just say your mother is an astute reader of female intent. While I was busy admiring your sister’s friend’s ass, she apparently read the girl’s mind or something.” Brandis’ face flushed even hotter.
He resisted the urge to protest, to proclaim his innocence of such things. Because he wanted it back—those mornings between them, father and son, man and boy, not this awkward, man and almost-man bullshit. Because while the thought of one of his sister’s college friends popping his cherry remained a pleasant fantasy, it also made him feel older than he wanted to be right then.
“So, I bought a box of condoms this morning,” Jack went on. “Put some downstairs in the side table drawer and the rest in your room. Use them please.” He sipped the last of his coffee, looked as if he were about to get up, then leaned forward, touching Brandis’ wrist. “Have fun. Don’t be an asshole to women. Let every experience teach you…something. Because you are nothing as a man if you don’t learn from every woman you…love.” Jack looked out the window onto the nearly empty parking lot. Then he turned back, tightened his grip on his son’s arm. “God, you are so…young.” His face fell a moment, then he perked up again, his eyes twinkling. “Okay, so, your mother told me to tell you not to let them corrupt you. But all I’m gonna say is this: always wear protection, no matter what, no matter how much you don’t want to. And don’t let your mom catch you in the act. I’ll handle her otherwise.”
Then he let go, stood and smiled, draping a friendly arm around Brandis’ shoulders as they exited the restaurant.
“You really didn’t tell me you were admiring Katie’s friend’s ass, did you, Dad?”
“No, son. I most certainly did not. You obviously misheard me.” Jack winked as he stood by the passenger’s side of his classic Corvette convertible and tossed the keys to Brandis. “Remember what I told you. Don’t ride my clutch.”

Halloween is coming: are you ready for some spooky fun?
"Ghostly Indulgence": Blurb
Nurzhan and Spyridion are ghosts. The only night they can become corporeal is All Hallow’s Eve, when they should be busy haunting. Hopefully, there will be some time for fun, as well. They’re determined to get to know each other much better on this one special night. But how can they live a whole year without touching each other again?
EXCERPT
The closer it got to Halloween the harder Spyridion tried to think of a way to get up close and personal, in private, with the truly yummy Nurzhan. The problem was, all ghosts were so busy at Halloween. They were supposed to devote themselves to scaring people all night long, yet this was the only time they could become fully corporeal and fuck properly as humans. It hardly seemed fair that on the one night a year they were guaranteed multiple outstanding orgasms, they were fully occupied jumping out of closets and saying "Boo" to unbelieving humans. Although he didn't want to totally abdicate his duties on that night, surely he could spend an hour or so in bed with the one ghost he desired above all things, Nurzhan. How to set it up was the problem.
Spyridion was in one of his favorite places, sitting on the steeple of St Thomas the Apostle by the Sea Church, looking out over the ocean, when he saw Nurzhan floating toward him. Damn, that man was fuckable. Shoulder-length black hair, silky-soft and swirling around his head. Eyes so deep a brown a man could drown in those sexy, dark pools. And built. Oh yeah, big all over, especially where it counted the most.
Spyridion knew Nurzhan was interested in him. They'd even exchanged a few touches and a kiss, but he wanted a whole lot more than that. And he wanted it the one night of the year when they were both able to become corporeal.
Nurzhan wafted down onto the steeple and settled himself beside Spyridion.
"Hi there. All ready for the big night?" Spyridion asked.
"Yeah, well, um, I've been thinking about that."
"You have? Me too." Spyridion felt excitement tingle through him. If he'd had a pulse it would have been racing right now.
"I don't think it's fair the way we ghosts aren't recognized for all the hard work we do each All Saint's Eve. It's time we stood up for ourselves and made people realize we have rights, too."
Well, damn. That wasn't what I was hoping he'd say!

How I came to write paranormal stories
I’ve been quite surprised to find myself writing paranormal stories. I saw myself as writing contemporaries, about ordinary people who find their very hot happily ever after.
But when I thought about a Halloween story, a werewolf just appeared in my head and started talking to me. The end result of that was “Dogged Pursuit” an MM romance. Which is pretty much how my first paranormal book happened. I was writing “Intensity”, Keziah’s story, when a ghost just appeared out of nowhere and took over. John Smith told me “Intensity” was his story as much as Keziah’s. Of course, I was hardly surprised when I sat down to write Tia’s story, “Complexity”, set in the same world as “Intensity”, and another ghost arrived. Gillian explained she was a relative of John Smith’s and she needed Tia’s help. What’s an author to do? Some days I think I just take dictation!
The third book in that world, “Eternity”, is also an MMF ménage. But this time both heroes are vampires. One of them has been a minor character in both previous books, and when I was thinking about the possibility of writing a third book, he told me he was a vampire, and it was time I gave him a happy forever after. Fortunately, the perfect woman for him and his partner was available. I’d hate to annoy a vampire! Or a werewolf. Or even a ghost!
Since then I’ve written several more werewolf stories, “Were the Hell”, another MM Halloween book, and “Werewolves Can’t Fly” an MMF and the sequel to “Flight to Joy”.
But I’ve also managed to write some non-paranormal contemporaries as well.
“Dogged Pursui” blurb:
Dwyer is a two-hundred-year-old werewolf currently working as a limo driver. He’s enticed by the scent of a man he has to take into the city. The man’s smell overwhelms him and calls to him “mate”. Yet he thought only a male and a female could mate and he is gay.
Nelson is equally attracted to Dwyer and the two spend a very hot night together.
However their second date is on Halloween and Dwyer is really struggling to keep his wolf under control.
How is Dwyer going to get himself out of this mess? And what will Nelson’s reaction be? Can they possibly have a future together?

In Memory of My Dad
When I was small my Mom was quite ill. My Dad had never had to look after me for more than an hour or two at a time until then, and he wasn’t too sure what to do with me. The first day he bought me a wonderful set of blocks with bridges, and towers, and awesome things in the box, and I played with them all day. I’m pretty sure he enjoyed playing with them too. At least for the first hour or so. But by the second day he was once again at a loss to know what to do with me.
He loved reading, so he sat me down and taught me to read. I was already fascinated that the black squiggles on the pages of my books actually meant something, and picked up the idea fairly quickly. My Mom was ill for several months. Long before she had gotten better I was reading voraciously. All the kids’ books I owned, I could now read, and I read them over and over. When I got tired of that, Dad took me down to the local library, and signed me up for a membership card. That worked well for several years, until I’d read everything in the children’s section. Dad didn’t even blink. He just handed me his adult borrower card and I started to read the adult collection.
Some people were horrified that I might read something that little girls shouldn’t know about. Dad wasn’t worried. “If she doesn’t understand it, it won’t hurt her. And if she knows what it means, there’s no need to hide it from her”, he said.
Then one day I had no books to read. There was nothing I owned that I wanted to reread, and none of my favorite authors had new books out I hadn’t read yet. So I started to write a book myself. I sent it off to a publisher and while I was waiting for the publisher to reply I wrote another one, and another one, and the rest, as they say, is history.
“Aquamarine: Courage and Comfort” blurb:
Edmund’s sister Mavis was tragically widowed by a hit-and-run driver, when he was rushing to the hospital for the birth of their son. Now Mavis can’t cope with the loss of her husband and a new fatherless baby to care for.
Mavis’ friend, AJ, tells Edmund that he and his partner, Utah, must go and retrieve an aquamarine. The stone will bring courage and comfort to Mavis. It will hold the spirit of her dead husband and she will be able to rear their son and have a fulfilling life.
Only lovers can find the stone. Edmund and Utah are a little skeptical, but very willing to try.
“Aquamarine: Courage and Comfort” PG13 Excerpt
Utah just smiled at his partner. Edmund had all the confidence in the world, and likely some naughty plan in mind. Well, they'd soon see just how doable his plans were. One of the things Utah loved about Edmund was his insouciant acceptance of sex as an integral part of daily life. And Utah's dick was always ready to get involved in sex with Edmund!
Even just looking at Edmund in that tight, body-hugging wetsuit, made Utah's cock grow and harden, and his balls tighten. Down boy he thought widening his stance a little to ease the pressure on his equipment. First we find this mystical aquamarine for Mavis. Then we fuck each other's brains out.
The more he thought about it, the crazier it sounded. Here on a public beach where dozens, even hundreds, of people swam every day, they were going to swim out to a sandbar and find a precious stone. They would then give this stone to Edmund's sister, and with no other help -- no therapy, no psychiatrists, no lawyers, nothing else at all -- she would accept the loss of her husband and focus on rearing her kid. When he put it like that, it almost sounded like he was the one who needed a good therapist. Deluded didn't come close to explaining the lack of logic in those thoughts. Ah well, all he could do was support Edmund. AJ had made it quite plain Edmund would not succeed if Utah wasn't there with him. And anyway, he wanted to be with Edmund. Wanted to help him.
Shrugging his shoulders he swung around to look at Edmund. "Are you ready to go fetch this rock?"
"Yes, sure. But how are we supposed to recognize it?"
"Hell if I know. Isn't it supposed to call to you, or something?"

Making HIStory HERstory as well
It was Georgette Heyer who addicted me to Regency romance, and my first Regency-set romance was dedicated to her. But I have also always been fascinated by the strong women of history. In a time when women had almost no rights at all, every now and then a woman overcame every obstacle to guide her people.
One of those was Queen Elizabeth I of England to whom my latest Regency-set erotic lesbian romance, has been dedicated:
In memory of Queen Elizabeth I of England—a woman who refused to let her gender stand in the way of achieving her hopes and ambitions, and who ruled her country better than any man of her time could have done.
Other women who come to mind are:
Marie Curie, Queen Victoria, Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, Mother Theresa, Eleanor of Aquitane, Aspasia of Miletus, Boadicea, Catherine the Great, Sappho, Florence Nightingale, and in our own day, Aung San Suu Kyi. Of course, you will all have your own lists.
All my lesbian erotic romances are based on the idea of women overcoming difficulties to achieve their happy endings.
“Lady Caroline’s Reward” is also Regency-set
Lady Caroline Eversley is the only child of the Earl of Blackshire. He is growing forgetful and she needs a chaperone so hires Miss Dinah Watkin, a distant relative whom she met once at a family gathering and enjoyed good friendship with.
While dealing with unwanted suitors, Dinah and Caroline fall in love, and Dinah teaches Caroline all about sex. But the problem of Caroline’s suitable chaperonage refuses to go away. And in Regency England unmarried women had almost no rights. Whatever will happen to them as the Earl’s health fails?

Captured Possession Trivia
Hidden underneath a long green ridge of land in an ordinary part of rural America, New Thimphu is a community established by settlers who live in their traditional ways.
In New Thimphu all the brothers share one wife in a ménage. She’s their treasured possession. Neither Ryker Volkov, nor Coulton Urquahart, has a brother. Uh-oh. Big problem!
The men decide to be like brothers and form a ménage with Kenzie Evans. Oh, good plan.
But both Ryker and Coulton are Doms in the BDSM scene and Kenzie’s convinced two Doms and one sub in a ménage will never work. She says, “No”. Uh-oh. Big problem!
In the old days, New Thimphu men used to kidnap their bride. Ryker and Coulton decide to kidnap Kenzie. Oh, good plan.
Kenzie decides ménage sex is awesome, but she still refuses to marry them. Uh-oh. Big problem!
The two Doms leave Kenzie naked and chained to the bed. Now what?
